United Airlines is proud to support Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) to ensure that members have access and are encouraged to explore STEM programs and careers. By supporting our volunteers and councils with new STEM resources, United aims to inspire future aviators and leaders.
Through the partnership with United Airlines, GSUSA will create resources for volunteers and Girl Scout council staff to deliver STEM programs and broaden the variety of STEM opportunities available for Girl Scouts. GSUSA will also strengthen national STEM partnerships and bring councils together to connect around STEM. Studies show that girls who participate in Girl Scout STEM programs become more confident in their math and science abilities and more interested in STEM subjects and careers (Girl Scout Research Institute, “Decoding the Digital Girl,” 2019). In the next ten years, United will hire more than 10,000 pilots and, in supporting GSUSA, hopes to motivate Girl Scouts to pursue careers in aviation.
United Airlines looks forward to seeing Girl Scouts use their STEM skills to solve problems big and small, express their creativity through technology, take action to protect the environment, and learn about how aviation can connect people and unite the world.
