Girl Scouts Build a Better World
SPOILER ALERT: Girl Scouts totally rocked the 90th Anniversary Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® this year!
While America was getting ready for turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie, amazing Girl Scouts took to the streets of Manhattan with marching bands, high-flying balloons, and their very own float to showcase the awesome things Girl Scouts everywhere do to make the world a better place.
It was super exciting!
Girl Scouts have been taking the lead to make the world a better place for more than 100 years. And now, for the first time, a nationwide audience of over 50 million was able to see how girls of courage, confidence, and character get things done!
As the float made its way through the streets of New York City, girls were "building a better world" by arranging giant 3-D puzzle pieces to form a globe. The float featured activities that represent what Girl Scouts past and present have done and continue to do as they take action locally and globally. From discovering new things and participating in outdoor adventures to developing entrepreneurship skills and exploring science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), Girl Scouts are on a mission to positively impact our world.
Along with the giant puzzle, the float featured two dozen "embroidered" Girl Scout badges rendered in beautiful detail and representing everything from STEM and the outdoors to financial literacy and entrepreneurship—as well as a Gold Award symbol that celebrates this year's centennial of Girl Scouts' highest award.
And guess what? Very special musical guests Maddie and Tae joined the Girl Scouts on the float as it made its way to Herald Square—awesome!
