Island Impact: Young Women's Leadership in the Dominican Republic: July 6-13, 2026

Spend eight unforgettable days in the Dominican Republic, where vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and meaningful service experiences come together to spark growth, connection, and leadership. This is more than a trip—it’s a journey of impact and discovery.

About the Trip

This immersive 8-day journey through the Dominican Republic blends leadership, service, and cultural exploration. Starting in Santiago and traveling through the northern coast to Santo Domingo, you'll engage with grassroots organizations and local communities to explore issues like animal welfare, education, sustainability, and human rights.

Highlights include hands-on workshops with Dogs and Cats of the Dominican Republic, service with the DREAM Project, and a leadership exchange with MUDHA, an organization advocating for Dominican-Haitian women and children. Along the way, you'll have fun snorkeling in Sosua Bay, hiking to Jima Waterfalls, and touring the historic Colonial Zone by train.

You’ll gain independence, flexibility, teamwork, global awareness, and lifelong friendships on this unforgettable adventure.

Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona is partnering with the travel organization, ACIS, to embark on this leadership journey. Check out a video of last year’s ACIS Destination to Costa Rica
