NEW YORK (June 20, 2025) — Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) announced Danielle Shockey as chief experience officer and Dr. Sesha Joi Moon as chief impact officer. These two new appointments underscore GSUSA’s steadfast commitment to advancing transformative experiences for all girls and offering the support they need to navigate life with purpose and joy.
“We are thrilled to introduce Danielle Shockey and Dr. Sesha Joi Moon to our executive team,” said GSUSA CEO Bonnie Barczykowski. “Their expertise and passion for the Girl Scout mission will be invaluable as we continue evolving to meet the needs of today’s girls and ensure they have every opportunity to build self-confidence and cultivate the skills to be life ready—for today and tomorrow.”
As chief experience officer, Shockey will spearhead efforts to transform the organization’s engagement with its Movement, ensuring Girl Scouts is accessible and adaptable for all girls. Prior to joining GSUSA, Shockey, a Girl Scout alum, served as CEO of Girl Scouts of Central Indiana. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in increasing revenue, growing membership and improving retention. With more than 20 years of experience in education and leadership, Shockey will deliver unparalleled support and resources to members, volunteers and council colleagues.
“Stepping into this new role for Girl Scouts—an organization with a powerful legacy of helping girls grow with confidence, purpose and joy—is an honor” said Danielle Shockey, chief experience officer. “Together with dedicated staff, volunteers and councils, we’ll create experiences that spark curiosity, build resilience and help all girls navigate the world on their terms.”
As chief impact officer, Dr. Sesha Joi Moon will amplify the positive impact of Girl Scouts, ensuring all girls feel welcome and valued as they reach their fullest potential. With more than 20 years of expertise in social impact, Dr. Moon most recently served as chief diversity officer for the U.S. House of Representatives, where she was appointed as a non-partisan executive during the 117th and 118th Congresses.
“I’m honored to support the important work of ensuring girls have the skills they need to thrive,” said Dr. Moon, chief impact officer. “I’m especially proud to join a Movement with deep roots in communities like Jackson Ward in Richmond, Virginia—where I’m from—and a long history of supporting and uplifting girls of color.”
